Ram Island Ledge Light Station, as it is officially known, is located atop a series of rocks serving as a breakwater at the entrance to Casco Bay near Portland harbor.
This painting depicts a stylized roiling and tumultuous ocean with a dramatic sky contrasting dark clouds and sunlight to represent how lighthouses are a beacon amidst the unpredictable nature of life at sea.
