In the mid 2000’s I had a studio in an old warehouse on Union Wharf along Portland Maine’s working waterfront. Every day I went to the studio I would take a photo of the fishing boats tied up along the pier. One day as I was taking my daily photo, a seagull flew into view, and that was the inspiration and reference for this painting.
