The New England General store is a subject that resonates with me. It’s a symbol of community and uniqueness. I appreciate the individually owned stores that serve their neighbors without the constraints of a corporate manual. Every general store has its own identity which I feel is important to maintain in the face of corporate convenient store homogenization.
This is the second in the General Store series I have been planning to paint ever since I painted FO Goldthwaite’s in Biddeford, Maine a few years ago.
