Lubec Channel Light is a “sparkplug” style lighthouse. It is a common construction method for small Lighthouses during the 19th century. It was built in 1890 to aid navigation in the newly dredged waterway. It was originally painted brown, but repainted white in 1903.

This painting depicts it as seen from the water with a South Lubec, Maine visible in the background.

This painting is part of my quest to visit and paint all of Maine’s beautiful and iconic lighthouses. You can follow my progress at my Maine Lighthouse Paintings blog.
